Who is Pilates suitable for?
Why is restoring balance in the body important?
Most people suffer from body imbalance of some kind. This may stem from injury, overuse of certain muscles while playing sport or repetitive activity (like sitting, standing or lifting) in day to day life. This can cause pain, limit mobility and make the body more susceptible to injury. Pilates is an excellent tool for restoring balance across the whole body; helping you to perform at your best no matter your goals or lifestyle.
What is Pilates?
Pilates is an exercise system focussed on improving strength, balance, function and resilience in body and mind. Movement is controlled and technique driven. At the practice's centre are six principals: breath, concentration, control, precision, centre and flow .
Mat classes often involve specialist props such as the magic circle, bands and foam rollers. Studio classes use specially designed apparatus such as the reformer.
